Overview
CODF was created to provide opportunities to share experiences and to support ideas-generation and capacity-building on public engagement and open dialogue. Our new workshops series is the latest effort and will be launched in Ottawa in the summer of 2017. We look forward to taking it on the road soon, and to expanding the range of topics it covers. If your organization would like to discuss a group rate for a session – with or without customized design – please contact us.
Custom Workshops and Training
CODF offers private, customized workshops designed to help organizations learn together. These can be tailored to small or large teams, or focus on a specific project or theme, as required. We are pleased to deliver sessions at your location or at one of our facilities.
Workshops can be tailored to small or large teams, around particular topics or focused on particular dialogue activities that your organization has.
Public Workshops Available:
Enabling Open Dialogue Workshop - Ottawa
CODF is on the forefront of public engagement research and practice. We are hard at work developing the next generation of engagement processes. Our work combines evidence-informed decision-making and Open Dialogue to produce something we call Informed Participation. This full day workshop will introduce you to the key concepts and methodology, which uses in-person and online techniques in new ways to change how we do Open Dialogue.
Date: To be determined/Stay tuned!
Time: 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Location: 35 O'Connor Street, Suite 302, Ottawa, ON K1P 5M4
What to expect:
CODF workshops are fast-paced and highly interactive. Our approach mixes concepts with lots of examples and cases drawn from first-hand experience. The Enabling Open Dialogue Workshop session will equip you with state-of-the-art tools to help plan, design, deliver and evaluate online and in person deliberative processes. We will show you how to draw a principled distinction between two key tasks – analysis and narrative-building – that allows you to scale deliberative processes to include large numbers of people. You will work with others in the session to test these ideas against one another’s experience to see how they measure up. Our goal is to provide you with a new and comprehensive picture of deliberative processes that changes how you think about evidence-informed decision-making and Open Dialogue. Informed Participation lets you see deliberation in a new light and shows you how it can lead to real progress on some of our most intractable issues.
What you'll leave with:
- ♦ A fuller understanding of the modern dynamics of public sector engagement
- ♦ A framework to help structure and think your way through your consultation or dialogue
- ♦ Practical experience in applying our public sector engagement framework
- ♦ Insights in how the vastly changing world of public sector engagement can be properly tackled
